Debut Single by Music Giff powered by The Capitol Groove Collective

Army Veteran Helicopter pilot, and now Singer Songwriter “Music Giff”, is releasing his debut single titled, Fishing Buddy (Cast out My Line). A project that has been in the works for over a decade, it recently found new life when he teamed up with a fellow Veteran (Marcus Truelove), and then, the COVID 19 lock-down.

Q: Over a decade?! Why so long?

A: Lol, I know! Seven years of military service, transition to civilian life, a few jobs and three states later things started to settle down. I wrote it while in flight school in 2002, at the time I didn’t play the guitar. Fast forward 18 years and two teenage boys, I learned to play the guitar and started writing again.

Q: How did COVID 19 lock-down influence your efforts?

A: I think it has forced us all to have a greater focus on the things that really matter in life. It also increased the urgency of dreams. So, the story that this song tells reflects an appreciation for experiences and the love of family and friends. It also allowed more time to bring the project to life.

Q: Is songwriting something you’ve done more since the lock-down?

A: It has been an outlet for sure. I had recently teamed up with Marcus Truelove a fellow Veteran and singer-songwriter I met at a live band karaoke type event. We worked on Fishing Buddy, and continue to work on other songs of various genres. It does help escape the monotony of lock-down.

Q: So, more music to come?

A: Absolutely! I’m part of a collective of musicians, called the Capitol Groove Collective, that motivates and empowers creation. I’m also working on more songs and will either release more singles, or an album this year. And, as sure as we have a story to tell (the year 2020 has plenty so far) I’ll be making music.
